Shree Sadagopan

Vocals and Guitar

Shree is a versatile and innovative guitarist who blends the musical traditions of his homeland, Malaysia and South India, with the influences of Rock music and Psychedelic guitar legends like Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, & Carlos Santana. Born and raised in Penang, Shree grew up listening to South Indian music and the everyday sounds of Malaysia. He also developed a passion for rock, blues, funk and house music growing up in Hawaii. These influences are heard through his original melodies, and rhythms on the guitar today. 

After moving to Hawaii, Shree joined the band Quadraphonix, a world music ensemble blending genres such as reggae, Latin, funk, and Indian classical music. Shree's signature psychedelic guitar style was integral to Quadraphonix's sound which has been heard at various venues and festivals across the US, Asia, and Europe on stages with renowned artists.

Shree is now pursuing his musical vision through Brighter Side of Sol, a Psychedelic band, creating unique groovy sounds representing his musical inspirations and culture.

James Harmon

Bass and Vocals

Born in Los Angeles and raised in Mali, Kansas, and Hawaii, James Harmon’s diverse background has undoubtedly influenced his musical journey. Some of his musical influences include Robert Glasper, Khruangbin, Butcher Brown, Ali Farka Touré, Esperanza Spalding, Primus, Air, and Radiohead. This blend of cultures and sounds has inspired an exploration of musical creativity, writing, and improvisation. James has performed across various genres, including groovy, psychedelic, neo-soul, funky hip-hop, rock, and original music. Jack Tawil

Drums

An adaptive and talented percussionist who lays down the pulse of Brighter Side of Sol. Jack became a drummer at age seven after witnessing a live performance of big-band drumming legend Buddy Rich. Soon afterward, he was immersed in the varied styles of jazz, fusion, rock, and session drummers such as Tony Williams, Jack DeJohnette, Steve Gadd, Mitch Mitchell, and Hal Blaine. Jack's talent and experience have been a welcome gift to Brighter Side of Sol's sound and trance-like rhythms, which will keep listeners wanting more.
